Dr. Jeremy Adams has a multidimensional background that includes a Ph.D. in Sport and Exercise psychology, a clinical postdoctoral fellowship in Chemical Dependency, and a Graduate Diploma in Health Psychology. Jeremy has recently returned to Australia after 10 years in the USA, France, and the UK where he consulted to organisations, ran a private psychology practice, and directed an MSc in Sport and Performance psychology.
In his capacity as a registered psychologist, Jeremy has provided CBT and ACT (see below), for motivational and performance enhancement and behavioural change, with a wide range of clients: an international level triathlete, an Olympic pentathlete, a national level martial artist, national level rowing, basketball and polo teams, and a concert pianist, as well as many sporting and general practice clients. He also has substantial experience in the assessment and treatment of chemical and behavioural addictions, and has published in excess of 10 professional papers in this area.
Jeremy is also the author of two books: “Managing People in Organisations: Contemporary Theory and Practice” and “Practical Sport Psychology”.
In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Jeremy is an authority in outdoor adventure and fitness. He's a qualified scuba diving instructor, personal trainer, rock-climbing coach, and aerobics instructor. He has competed at a state level in mountain-biking and competitive aerobics, and maintains an active, current interest in physical excellence.
Working from a positive psychology paradigm, Jeremy has an integrated, person-centred approach to psychotherapy that includes:
